Ford India launched its Ford Freestyle model in the year 2018. To fill the gap between the Ford Figo and Ford EcoSport, the company launched the Ford Freestyle, which is essentially a crossover version of the face-lifted Ford Figo hatchback. It is a quite successful model, it came with class-leading safety features and eventually won Gaadify car of the year award 2018. The 2020 BS-6 Ford Freestyle price starts from the INR 5.89 lakhs and INR 8.19 lakhs ranging among seven variants. It is available in 6 colors: Diamond White, Moondust Silver, Ruby Red, White Gold, Canyon-Ridge, and Smoke Grey.
Ford Freestyle Specification
The updated BS-6 version of Ford Freestyle is available in both petrol and diesel options. The new ford freestyle dimensions 3,954 mm L x 1,737 mm W x 1,570 mm H, 1.2-litre, the 3-cylinder petrol engine comes from Ford’s new Dragon family of motors outputs 96 PS of power at 3750 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. The engine is paired to a new Getrag-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox. And the 1.5-litre diesel engine with TDCi motor that 100PS of power of at 3750 rpm and 215 Nm at 3000 rpm. The engine is also paired to a new Getrag-sourced 5-speed manual gearbox. The mileage of the updated Freestyle is claimed to be 18.5 kmpl for the petrol variant and 23.8 kmpl for the diesel variant.
It is equipped with a powerful engine and ARP (Active Rollover Prevention) so that it can take on both rough terrain and steep inclines. Also, with ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ARP automatically detects and avoids the potential rollover situations by applying brakes to individual wheels and decreasing engine torque.
Ford Freestyle Features
The Ford Freestyle comes with a load of features and with the BS-6 upgrade, it gets a lot cooler. There is no question that the Freestyle is a modified design of the Ford Figo. It consists of a crossover design of the Figo and the EcoSport. It is accentuated by design elements like heavy plastic cladding, black mesh grille up front, and black treatment for exterior features like fog lamps, headlamps, and ORVMs. The car also gets side body cladding, wheel arch cladding, front and rear skid plates, roof rails, body-colored door handles, and integrated turn indicators for ORVMs.
At the interior, the cabin of the new Freestyle comes with the dark interior in a combination of black, grey, and brown shades with similar treatment for the upholstery. The car also gets a dash-top touchscreen infotainment display equipped with MP3, USB, Bluetooth, and Navigation along with steering mounted controls and 4 speakers. It comes with a 17.78 cm (7.0 inch) infotainment touchscreen that has in-built navigation. The top-end model also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the company’s SYNC3 connectivity system on offer. Other features include front door scuff plates, chrome-accented inner door handles, multiple storage spaces, fully-foldable rear seats, Sienna seat covers, and more.
On the safety front, it offers side and curtain airbags offering backseat passengers extra protection. Also, the features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) gives you a better grip on the road, so you can make those sudden stops and quick turns with greater control. And to assist during reverse parking, the rearview camera turns on automatically.
