The new generation Kia Carnival has been unveiled and the manufacturer has disclosed various details about the India-bound MPV. Based on Kia’s new mid-size platform, the new Carnival has been dubbed a “Grand Utility Vehicle”; more refined, roomy and capable than ever, and offering greater space and efficiency than its predecessors – as well as all current rivals in its segment.
it is likely to attract a premium compared to the current-gen Carnival, which is priced between INR 24.95 lakhs, and INR 33.95 lakhs. The 4th gen Kia Carnival will be launched in Korea in the third quarter of 2020 and the other global markets will follow.
Kia Carnival 2021 Specifications
Kia Carnival 2021 features three engine options: a 3.5-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine that outputs 294 PS of power and 355 Nm of torque, a 3.5-litre MPi V6 petrol engine that outputs 272 PS of power and 332 Nm of torque, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine that outputs 202 PS of power and 440 Nm of torque. All three engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and there won’t be any manual transmission this time around.
The fuel average, claimed by the company is 11.05 kmpl. If we talk about the brakes, then there are 4-Wheel Disc with Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) on both front and rear wheels.
Kia Carnival 2021 Features
At the exterior, there is the upright front-end with the trademark Tiger Nose grille, rectangular headlamps and those snazzy DRLs beg for attention while the flared wheel arches and large dual-tone alloy wheels give it a muscular look. Also, there is the slim LED tail lamps as well as the blacked-out bumper with a faux skid plate that helps break the visual mass. The auto headlight control offers the convenience of having your headlights turn on and off depending on the level of outside light. The electric remote locking fuel-filler door helps provide secure closure.
On the interior, the fourth-generation Carnival offers three-row or four-row seating configurations, with space for seven, eight or 11 occupants in total. The car is also more versatile and spacious than before. The infotainment system in Kia’s latest is 12.3-inch digital driver instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system under a single seamless piece of glass. This dual-screen display creates a panoramic, widescreen user experience, with many infotainment functions controlled via touch-sensitive buttons around the screen. The main highlight of the new Carnival is the infotainment system also enables users to connect two smartphones via Bluetooth at the same time, enabling separate phones to be used for phone calls or media. The main highlight also, is the passengers in the rear seat can operate air conditioners, windows, and navigation with the seat voice recognition service using the artificial intelligence platform Kakao-I.
On the safety front, it comes with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and front and rear parking sensors. The Carnival also comes with a host of driver assistance systems such as forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, blindspot collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning and highway driving assist. It also has a smart power tailgate auto-close function.
