Skoda Cars published a short video advertising the new Skoda Rapid Automatic and the updates that it will receive in the TSI version. The new Skoda will get the BS-6 compliant engine that is, eventually, more powerful and better efficient.
The Skoda Rapid TSI, though an aged model, has got off to a surprising start thanks to its aggressive price tag. In fact, the base-spec Rider variant saw incredible demand due to which Skoda has had to temporarily halt bookings. Now to broaden the Rapid’s appeal, Skoda is set to introduce automatic variants of the sedan in September 2020.
Skoda Rapid Automatic Specifications
The Skoda Rapid features a 999 cc, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that ouputs 110 PS of power at 5250 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. This engine replaces the 1.5-litre TDI and 1.6-litre MPI units found in its BS4 predecessor. The Rapid TSI is initially mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, with the automatic variant slated to join the lineup later. If we talk about the brakes then front wheel are equipped with the Disc Brakes and the rear wheel are equipped with the Drum Brakes.
The new Škoda gives the fuel average of 18.7 kmpl. It reaches from 50 km/h to 80 km/h in 6.60 seconds which is much quicker than the new-generation Honda City (6.43 seconds and 8.80 seconds) and the Maruti Ciaz (5.26 seconds and 7.60 seconds), both of which are powered by larger 1.5-litre petrol engines. The top speed of the Rapid TSI is 185 km/h.

At the interior, it has minimal styling elements and an uncluttered design, the 2020 Rapid looks identical to the previous version, but it still appears relatively fresh and modern. Like the exteriors, the interiors remain unchanged too, with a neat layout, boasting a solid build and some high quality materials. The minimalist styling appears a bit drab compared to more modern rivals, but the black theme and red accents of this Monte Carlo variant livens things up a bit. The flat-bottomed steering wrapped in perforated leather looks racy and feels superb to hold. Other new inclusions are the seat upholstery and the 8.0-inch infotainment system, both of which look like aftermarket accessories.
On the safety front, Anti-Lock Braking System, Central Locking, Power Door Locks, Child Safety Locks, Anti-Theft Alarm, No of Airbags, Driver Airbag and Passenger Airbag, Day & Night Rear View Mirror, Passenger Side Rear View Mirror, Seat Belt Warning, Door Ajar Warning, Side Impact Beams, Front Impact Beams, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Engine Immobilizer, Crash Sensor, Centrally Mounted Fuel Tank, and Engine Check Warning.
Skoda Rapid Automatic Variants
The new Skoda TSI will be available in the six variants. All the variants will come in the same petrol only engine, and only the features will be different in every variant.
The new skoda rapid price launched at 7.49 lakhs, skoda rapid rider plus is priced at 7.99 lakhs, Rapid TSI Ambition is priced at 9.99 lakhs, Rapid TSI Onyx is priced at 10.19 lakhs, Rapid TSI Style is priced at 11.49 lakhs, Rapid TSI Monte Carlo is priced at 11.79 lakhs. The color options will available in the market are Flash Red, Lapiz Blue, Carbon Steel, Candy White, Brilliant Silver, and Toffee Brown.
